Erica Flinspach-Van Der Walt, an award-winning expert from UNISA, shared her journey in pioneering Turnitin at one of the world’s largest distance learning institutions. Her work advocates for the use of Turnitin as a formative tool, helping to improve student writing and uphold academic integrity. In her presentation, Integrity is a Choice, Academic Integrity is the Result, Erica discussed her commitment to fostering ethical scholarship and her influence in shaping originality-checking practices worldwide. Universities South Africa (USAf) | The Advocate for Education

Michelle Buchler, Senior Manager of Higher Education Leadership and Management at Universities South Africa (USAf), delivered a compelling presentation on Women & Higher Education Leadership in South Africa: Beyond Numbers. With extensive experience in academia and education-focused NGOs, Michelle emphasised the need for more women in leadership roles within higher education. She shared insights on how structural change and policy reform can foster greater inclusivity and representation for women in academic leadership. Her dedication to education and belief in its power to change the world were evident throughout her talk.
